Spruce Essential Oil – Picea Abies

Spruce Essential Oil Picea Abies is obtained through  steam distillation from needles and European spruce-Picea abies (L.) Karst., synonym: Picea excelsa Lam. Link. (family pine – Pinaceae).

across Europe to Siberia, where it is replaced by Siberian spruce.

Spruce Essential Oil (Picea Abies) properties:

Colorless or light yellow liquid with a pleasant resinous-bitterish coniferous smell reminiscent of silver fir oil.

The main components of the Spruce Essential Oil are:

α- and β-pinene, camphene, fellandren, limonene, camphor, borneol, bornylacetate, cadinene, santen.

Act:

Anti-inflammatory, expectorant, soothing, adaptogenic, choleretic, diuretic, anti-edematous, wound-healing, lipotropic, strong bactericidal (especially against staphylococci), anticancerous, antiviral, antiseptic, powerful antioxidant. Increases the indices of nonspecific protection, stimulates immunological reactivity. Increasing the body’s resistance, contributes to the rapid recovery of health after serious illnesses. Removes inflammatory processes in the respiratory and excretory organs. Eliminates congestion in diseases of the upper respiratory tract. Eliminates inflammation of the bladder and ureters (cystitis, urethritis). Improves myocardial conductivity and the functional state of the entire cardiovascular system. Increases mental and physical performance. It balances the emotional state: relieves tension, nervousness, restores emotional balance. Spruce Essential Oil (Picea Abies) Indications for use:

Aromatization of the room promotes air disinfection and prevents the spread of respiratory infections.

Methods of application

For aroma massage 3-6 drops of spruce essential oil is added to 15 ml of the base oil.
To enrich the creams, tonics, gels – 4-6 drops per 15 grams of the base.
3-7 drops of pure oil or 10-15 drops of its alcoholic solution (10 drops of oil per 10 ml of 90% ethyl alcohol) are added to the aromatic lamp.
For hot inhalations take 2-3 drops of oil.
For baths – 4-7 drops, previously diluted in ¼ cup emulsifier (milk, cream, whey, honey or salt solutions).

Another application

In deodorants, as well as for the aromatization of salts and bath foams. Used rarely.
Precautionary measures.
Do not use during pregnancy. Use with caution in kidney pathology.
